Alternative
Investments—such as hedge funds and private equity
funds—offer qualified high net worth individuals an
opportunity to add value while diversifying and potentially
enhancing their existing holdings.
Generally, alternative investments seek to provide some or all
of the following:
- Capital
appreciation over the long term
- Portfolio
diversification through innovative strategies
- Access to
exclusive managers who are not ordinarily available to the
public
- Manager
investment flexibility (the ability to short,
leverage and hedge portfolios)
Minimum eligibility
requirements for U.S. investors usually begin, at a net
worth greater than $1.5 million for individuals (with spouse)
and $5 million for entities.
